Julia (Balantich) Selinski, 88, most recently of St. Anthony, Minn., passed away on March 12, 2013, with her family at her side.

Julia was born on Jan. 16, 1925, the second daughter of John and Mary Balantich.

She spent virtually all but this last year of her life in Chisholm, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Joseph, and sisters Mary Martin and Antonia Christoff.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Selinski-Watson (Bruce) of Blaine, Minn.; sons Michael of Lake Elmo, Minn., and Thomas of Duluth; and grandchildren Joseph Selinski, Minneapolis, and Natalie Selinski, Ulm, Germany; sisters Dorothy Feldt, Surprise, Ariz., and Ursella (Betty) Hoban, Cleveland, Ohio; as well as a large, loving, devoted, and tight-knit clan of cousins, nieces and nephews too numerous to list here.

Julia's large, extended family and close friends will always remember Julia for her incredible capacity for hard work; unimpeachable integrity; quick wit; devotion to family above all else; compassion for the disadvantaged; and love and generosity towards all who knew her. Julia derived an incredible strength and tranquility from her Catholic faith, as its teachings guided her at every step of her life, and in her daily encounters with others.

Julia worked outside the home for 30 years: two at Allis Chalmers, 16 at Chisholm Shirt Factory where she was a union steward, and 12 at Hibbing Taconite Plant; in addition to tending gardens, raising three children, volunteering extensively at her church, and managing the home.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all the extended family and close friends whose love, support and actions comforted Julia and her children in her final days.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Chisholm, Minn., with reviewal one hour prior to Mass.
