Elaine M. Magestad, 79, longtime Bovey resident, died on Friday, March 1, 2013 in Greenfield House in Mesa Ariz.
Elaine M. Magestad, 79, longtime Bovey resident, died on Friday, March 1, 2013 in Greenfield House in Mesa Ariz.
She was born Sept. 2, 1933 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Martin and Ann Nivila.
A lifelong Bovey resident, she was a Greenway High School graduate and a graduate of Itasca Community College. Elaine had been a social worker for Itasca County for 25 years, retiring in 1995.
She was a member of the First United Church of Coleraine & Bovey, a member of the Grand Rapids Eagle’s Auxiliary, and the Bovey Women of the Moose.
Her husband, Lloyd, her parents; a daughter, Denise Porter, and a granddaughter, Holly Orhn preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Ron (Carmella) Kortekaas of St. Cloud, Minn., Jerry Kortekaas of Bovey, Michelle (Clinton) Ambuhel of Coon Rapids, and Victor (Linda) Machen of Deer River; step-children Belinda (Don) Carlson of Cohasset, Lloyd (Julie) Magestad of Pengilly, Debbie (Dennis) Cowan of Wisconsin, and Ann Marie (Roger) Will of Cohasset; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and two sisters, Frances (Julius) Witkofsky of Deer River and Bonnie Cornell of Florida.
VISITATION: 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, March 16, 2013 in the First United Church of Coleraine & Bovey. Interment will be at the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine.
