Linda J. (Kendrick) Gontjes, 73, of Duluth, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 1, 2013.

Linda J. (Kendrick) Gontjes, 73, of Duluth, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 1, 2013.

Linda Joyce Kendrick was born Nov. 12, 1939 in Dwyee, Nev., the daughter of Ement and Marie (Wood) Kendrick.

The family later moved to Linton, N.D., where she grew up and attended school. She moved to the Twin Cities and later settled in Duluth. She worked as a switchboard operator at St. Luke’s Hospital for several years.

She is survived by her sons, Martin (Kerri) Gontjes, John (Sue) Gontjes, and Scott Gontjes, all of Duluth; brother Everette “Bud” (Brenna) Kendrick of Ashville, N.C.; sisters, Carol (Ed) Ely of Sacramento, Calif., and Marianne Walrath of Fond du lac, Wis., and eight grandchildren.

VISITATION: 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013 until the 2 p.m. Memorial Service in the Duluth Bible Church (former Washburn Elementary School) 201 West St. Andrew Street, Duluth. Burial at Forest Hill Cemetery, Duluth. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home (218) 727-3555.

I am so sorry for your loss. We had so many fun times as a family when living together. Your mom was a wonderful women. I remember when we were a family living together. We all had some great times and great memories. Dianne Croger Burcar.

I am so sorry to here about Linda's passing. I didn't even know you all were still living in Duluth. My Mom was good friends with Linda & I remember being over at her house alot when I was a kid. She even pierced my ears when I was in 7th grade. I am so sorry for your loss :-(
