William Roger "Bill" Wotczak, 68, Las Vegas Nev. and Prior Lake Minn., passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Feb. 8, 2013 after a gallant 11 month fight with cancer.
William Roger "Bill" Wotczak, 68, Las Vegas Nev., and Prior Lake Minn., passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Feb. 8, 2013 after a gallant 11 month fight with cancer.
Bill was born in Duluth on April 16, 1944 to Beatrice (Provost) and Theodore Wotczak.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Steve Watkins; and nephew L. Michael Boone.
Bill attended St James Catholic School, Denfeld High School, UMD and numerous USPS schools. He was a U.S. Army (Vietnam Conflict) Veteran. Bill retired in 2000 from the USPS with 34 years of dedicated service. His career began in Duluth as a clerk and retired in an executive position as District Manager. He served in many positions in seven states including Postmaster of Duluth.
A longtime Vikings fan, he followed all sports and enjoyed golf.
Bill is survived by his wife, Yvonne; children, Michele (Mark) Lyons, Ted (Khanh), Steven (Mellissa); step-children; Kelly (Rob) Tirpack, Alan (Kelly McBride) Saliin and Stephanie Saliin; grandchildren, Cory, Joey, Brandon, Devon, Katherine, Victoria, Micheal, Cameron, Cody, Maya, Zoe, Lucie, Charlotte, Logan, Ava, and Hudson; brothers and sisters, Dick (Mickey), Eileen (Don) Bergman, Ken (Joanne), Mary (Ron Cuperus) Patton, Jean (Jim Charbonneau; brother and sister-in-law, Don (Sandy) Watkins, Kathy (MikeCulhane) Boone and many loving nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, in Cremation Society, 7110 France Ave S, Edina, Minn. Funeral mass will be Monday, Feb. 18 in St James Catholic Church, 721 N 57th Ave W. Duluth, with visitation at 1 p.m. and Mass at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Fort Snelling at a later date. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
