Leonard Einer Kangas, 81, of Cloquet, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2013.

Leonard was born in 1931 in Kettle River, the son of Einer and Rachel Kangas. He was a 1949 graduate of Brookston High School and was a longtime employee, and retired, from Davidson Printing in Duluth.

Leonard was a member of the Cloquet Moose Lodge 1274, Knights of Kalevala, and Sampo Beach Club. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and playing the accordion.

He was preceded in death by sons Alan and Steven Kangas; and his parents.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty, of Cloquet; son David Kangas (Jackie Torre) of Barnum; daughter Susan Couture of Cloquet; grandchildren Rachel (Brent) Micken, Brandon (Danielle) Kangas, Bobbie Lee Kangas, and Justin Couture; five great-grandchildren; and sisters May Prachar of Esko and Shirley Erkkila of Cloquet.

FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS: 1 until the 2 p.m. memorial service Thursday, Feb. 14, in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. Memorials may be made to Solvay Hospice House.
