Alyce was born on Jan. 11, 1925, in Duluth, to George and Hilda (Knudson) Gilbert.

She graduated from Central H.S., and married Walter E. Olson in 1944. Together they raised four daughters. They had many wonderful years before his early death in 1976. In the 1970's, she joined Euclid Order of the Eastern Star, where she was the Worthy Matron and also held an office in the State Grand Chapter. Alyce was an active member of Asbury UMC.

Alyce enjoyed golf, cribbage, and cards. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an elegant and gracious woman with a heart of gold. She will be deeply missed by all.

She was preceded by her parents; husbands; brothers, George and Gerald; and beloved sister, Beverly.

Alyce is survived by her children Diane (Ron) Johnson of Indian Wells, Calif., Beverly (Skip) LeClair of Duluth, Claudia (David) Colalillo of Aurora, Ill., Jan (Wolfgang) Olson-Brenk of Germany, James (Kathy) Doyle Jr., Kevin Doyle, Maureen (Pete) Olson, all of Duluth; one brother, Donald (Bonnie) Gilbert of Oregon; one brother-in-law, Gerald Uzarek; 16 grandchildren Jill (Clay) Spencer, Stacy (Abbott) Smith, Dina (Dave) Moll, Randy (Melody) Johnson, Kevin (Paris) LeClair, Ryan (Colleen) LeClair, Sarah (Dave) Erola, Patrick (Maureen) Colalillo, Jason Colalillo, Christopher Brenk, Alexander Brenk, Marilee (Tom) Tusken, Dan (Michaela) Doyle, Tim (Amy) Doyle, Karen (Brian) McCormick, Christopher Olson; 32 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
