Hedvika "Vickie" Mary Maly, 98, died on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at the Hummingbird Assisted Living in Meadowlands, with her family by her side.
Hedvika "Vickie" Mary Maly, 98, died on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at the Hummingbird Assisted Living in Meadowlands, with her family by her side.
She was born on Nov. 16, 1914 to Alois and Mary Houser in Racine, Wis.
Vickie married James J. Maly in Minneapolis June 17, 1939.
Vickie was a beautician all of her life holding her license of 72 years finally retiring and closing her shop at the age of 92. She also was a homemaker and worked on the farm with her husband Jim. Vickie loved dancing with her husband and friends following the Chmielewski polka band over the years and enjoyed playing bingo.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Meadowlands.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; her sister, Mary and niece, Mary Margaret.
Survivors include her sons, Donald (Mary), Jerry (Carol) all of Meadowlands; her grandchildren, Troy (Carrie), Jodie (John) Snickers, Craig (Corrie), Amy (Justin) Burmeister, Brent (fiancé Eve), Leah, Adam, Dana (Patrick) O'Neill, Aaron (Megan); her great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Logan, Svea, Kaija, Hanna, Alexander, Jacob and Robin; her great great grandson, Jonah; her niece, Pat and nephew, Jerry; her step great grandchildren, Matt and Landon.
Vickie will be sadly missed by her loving family.
A special "Thank You" to all of the staff at the Hummingbird Assisted Living for their special care.
VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Meadowlands and will continue Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service in the church with Fr. Peter Lambert officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Elmer.
