Maxine LaVonne Nix, 93, passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at Grand Rapids, Minn.
She was born Aug. 24, 1919 in Tekamah, Neb., to Rono and Inez Bader. At the age of two she was adopted by her aunt and uncle, Edward and Fannie Van Horn.
She was preceded in death by husband Walter Nix, and stepdaughter Andrea Nix.
Maxine is survived by sons Ray Kahnk of San Diego, Calif., and Lowell (Cindy) Nix of Cloquet, Minn.; stepdaughters, Gini (Ron) Strowbridge of Eugene, Ore., and Elaine (Nate) Robertson of Vancouver, Wash.; siblings, Willard (Billie) Bader of Loomis, Calif., Melba (Ray) Blake of Fremont, Neb., Curtis (Ilona) Bader of Jackson Springs, N.C., Gail (Mary Ann) Bader of Omaha Neb.; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Salem Lutheran Brethren Church, 602 NE 8th Ave, Grand Rapids Minn. Visitation is one hour prior to service.
