REITA "BERNICE" (GLIDDON) RAJANEN

Reita “Bernice” (Gliddon) Rajanen, 87, of Duluth, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 in St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her family.

Reita “Bernice” (Gliddon) Rajanen, 87, of Duluth, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 in St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her family.

Bernice was born in Duluth on Oct. 8, 1925 to William and Rita (James) Gliddon.

Bernice attended Central High School and worked as an elevator operator in the Providence Building for F.I. Salter. On July 23, 1955, she married Kenneth Rajanen in Duluth and resided in the Duluth Heights and Lakeside neighborhoods.

Bernice was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and also a member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed square dancing, bowling, traveling, baking, gardening and getting her hair done at the “beauty school” (Cosmetology Careers Unlimited) every Friday morning.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Wilbur Hansen.

Bernice is survived by her husband, Ken; son Gene (Sandy); two granddaughters, Mikayla and Alexis Rajanen all of Duluth and her sister Rose (Robert) Helweg of Beech Grove, Ind.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the cardiac intensive care unit for the wonderful care given to Bernice during her last days.

VISITATION: 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 in First Memorial Funeral Chapel 4100 Grand Ave. Interment will be at Park Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred. Services entrusted to First Memorial Funeral Chapel 624-5050 --
