Rudolph J. Techar, 97, of Chisholm, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at Heritage Manor Health Care Center in Chisholm.
Rudolph J. Techar, 97, of Chisholm, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at Heritage Manor Health Care Center in Chisholm.
He was born Dec. 12, 1915 in Hibbing to Joseph and Catherine (Starsinich) Techar.
He was a graduate of Hibbing High School class of 1934 and had been a Chisholm resident since 1945. He was a World War II Veteran, having served in the European Theater.
Rudolph was united in marriage on Dec. 28, 1942 in Chisholm to Ann M. Tomsich. He worked as a mechanic/body man at the various Ford dealerships in Hibbing for many years.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church; the VFW Post No. 8510 – Hibbing; United Auto Workers of America; a lifetime member of the American Fraternal Union; and a former member of the Hibbing Bowling Assoc. for many years. He enjoyed bowling, cross country skiing, woodworking, polka music and dancing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ann on Dec. 22, 2012; brothers Frank, Joseph and William Techar; and sisters Mary Brank and Katherine Adamich.
Survivors include his sons James (Carol) of Mt. Iron and Thomas (Mary Sue) of Side Lake; two grandchildren Ty (Jolyn) and Amy (Mark) Hultman; two great-grandchildren Brighton and Brendan Techar; sisters Frances Rapovich and Josephine Fryckman both of Hibbing; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family of Rudy and Ann Techar wish to thank the entire staff at Heritage Manor for the exemplary care and compassion shown to them for the past 3 ½ years. A special thank you to Hospice Chaplin Rev. Steve Tomberlin.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chisholm, with Rev. Fr. Frank Perkovich celebrating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Mass in the church on Monday. Inurnment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing at a later date.
