Lois Marleen Hill Maki, 74, lifelong resident of Cloquet, passed away into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, after an extended illness at Interfaith Care Center Carlton, Minn. Dec. 29 2012.

Lois was born Aug 18, 1938 to William and Myrna Hill (Houck) in Duluth.

She was the only girl among three brothers, who teased her relentlessly. Lois and her brother Dick would travel to Breckenridge every summer to spend time with Grandpa and Grandma Hill on their farm along with aunties Lila, Jean and Glenny who doted on them endlessly and made many wonderful memories.

Lois shared her talent of playing the piano for many years at the Cloquet Gospel Tabernacle, Sawyer Covenant Chapel and Salvation Army.

Her hobbies were being on Juno internet, working on computers and sewing. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and created lifelong memories especially with Michael and Nina Maki. Lois made friends easily wherever she went, but greatly valued her privacy as well.

Lois had a very tender heart and cared deeply for those who were disabled or had difficulty caring for themselves. Her deep faith in the Lord Jesus was evident in how she ministered to those who were down and out and going through great difficulties. She will be sorely missed.

Preceding her death were her parents William and Myrna Hill; her son Jonathan Maki; and a brother Richard Hill.

Survived by her sons Roy R (Sue) Maki Jr., Daniel L (Penny) Maki; five grandchildren Michael, Nicholas, Maria, Nina, Isaac Maki; five great grandchildren and brothers Leroy (Anne) Hill, and Gene (Shereen) Hill.

VISITATION: 10 a.m. Jan. 4, 2012 until the 11 a.m. Memorial Service in Handevidt Funeral home 900 Washington Ave. Cloquet. To leave an online condolence for Lois’s family please visit www.handevidtfh.com. Arrangements with Handevidt Funeral & Cremation Service, 218-879-4636.
