Earl Swarthout, 93, of Grand Rapids, passed on to his home in Heaven on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012. He lived in the certain anticipation of a reunion with his God and his wife.
Earl was born in Eveleth, Minn. on April 20, 1919.
He graduated from Eveleth high school and St. Cloud Teacher’s College. He entered the Army Air Force in 1942 and ended his service in 1945 with an Honorable discharge. He married Marilyn Sheets on June 11, 1942 and they had seven children. He was a high school teacher and hockey coach at Baudette (1947-1952) and at Grand Rapids (1953-1988). Earl will be greatly missed by his family, church, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and the love of his life, Marilyn.
Surviving family includes: Mary Fitch, Bloomington, Minn.; Lorne (Joan), New York City; Craig (Connie), Loretto, Minn.; Lyn (Debbie), Cohasset, Minn.; Ruth (Ric) Kennedy, Lake Charles, La.; Anne (Bob) Rinaldi, Lake Stevens, Wash.; and Polly (Dana) Eiseman, Willow Springs, N.C., 18 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers; Ben, Oshkosh, Wis. & Ralph, Anchorage, Alaska.
VISITATION: 10 a.m. until to 11a.m. Funeral Service Thursday, Dec. 27 at the Itasca Bible Church, 32253 Harris Town Road, Grand Rapids. Burial is at Wildwood Cemetery in Cohasset, Minn.
