Deborah Nelson, 61, Silver Bay died unexpectedly on Saturday Dec. 1, 2012 at her home.

Deborah Nelson, 61, Silver Bay died unexpectedly on Saturday Dec. 1, 2012 at her home.

She was born May 4, 1951 to Donald and “Babe” Monson in Quantico, Virginia, and moved to Beaver Bay at the age of four.

After graduating from Kelley High School in Silver Bay in 1969, she moved to Duluth and was employed at Jeno’s until 1972. After her marriage to Alan Nelson in 1972, she returned to Silver Bay and was a homemaker for several years. Later she was employed at Ye Olde Store and the Spur gas station for several years, and most recently she worked at Zup’s Dollars and Flowers in Silver Bay.

Debbie enjoyed time at the campground in Gordon, Wis., and Sunday afternoon football at the West Branch in Finland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Donnie Monson; and a nephew, Kenny Nelson.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Alan; a son, Jamie Nelson of Duluth; five sisters, Donna (Ron) Weavil of Indiana, Dawn Monson of Duluth, Denise (Joe) Jamnick, Delsie (Tom) Mealey, and Darsie (Jim) Blazejak all of Silver Bay; and several nieces and nephews.

SERVICE: 11 a.m. Saturday Dec. 8, 2012 in Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay, followed by a fellowship lunch. To sign the online register book please visit www.cavallin funeral home.com.

Al, and Jamie, . We were so shocked to hear of your loss.. Debbie was such a wonderful person and she will be missed dearly by all who knew her. The campground won't be the same without her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both. Linda, Billy, Josh and Daniel

Our Hearts and prayers go out to Al, Jamie, and families. Debbie will be sadly missed. I grew up with Debbie in Beaver Bay-her smile and laughs brought joy to everyone she touched. We were blessed to be her friend. Steve & Lou Elam
