John Philip Mitchell, 57, loving father and devoted grandpa, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012.

John Philip Mitchell, 57, loving father and devoted grandpa, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012.

John was born and raised in Duluth, where he lived until 2004 when he moved to Menahga, Minn.,- the place he always felt most at ease.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen (Newhouse) Thoreson; father, Milton "Bud" Mitchell and his faithful "Pup" Cato.

John is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 32 years, Kristi; daughter, Anna; son, Joseph; grandchildren Destiny and Ryder; sister, Dawn Fitzgerald; brothers Jimbo, Fred and Mark; stepfather, Howard and many, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends that loved him very much.
