BARBARA "BARB" PEARSON

Barbara “Barb” Pearson, 76, of Duluth, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 after surviving breast cancer for 17 years.

Barbara “Barb” Pearson, 76, of Duluth, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 after surviving breast cancer for 17 years.

Barb was born on June 14, 1936 to Dewey and Susan Pajunen in an unorganized township near Chisholm.

She graduated from Hibbing High School before moving to Duluth where she met Wallace “Pete” Pearson and they married on Oct. 20, 1956 in Hibbing. Barb worked at U.S. Steel for many years before raising her two daughters. Barb returned to work in 1980 for Exports Inc (Duty Free Shop at the Duluth Airport) until 1992.

Barb was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church where she was the treasurer of the Dorcas Circle. Barb was also a member of the National Letter Carriers Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years; her parents and a sister, Audrey Ciesielski.

She is survived by her daughters, Sue (Jim) Hicks and Beth (Bob Olsen) Mohar; seven grandchildren, Nichole (Rick) Russell, Andrea, Derek and Joseph Hicks, Brooke, Ryan and Madison Mohar; a sister, Gloria Earls; brothers, Ted (Carol) Pajunen, Dewey (Mona) Pajunen and Arvid (Doris) Pajunen; a special friend, Orien Olson; sister-in-law, Gloria Wilkin and brother-in-law, Bill Ciesielski; many nieces and nephews.
