John M. Thompson, age 79, of Moose Lake, Minn., died Nov. 22, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake.
He was born August 20, 1933 at Mahtowa, the only son born to Roy and Ida Thompson.
John graduated from Cloquet High School in 1952. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed in Mississippi, Florida, and Alaska. John was employed at Chief Theater in Cloquet, First National Bank in Cloquet, the Art Institute and Hornblower and Weeks in Chicago. He returned to Duluth where he was employed by the Marine Museum and The Depot.
John was a member of the Swedish Cultural Society, Carlton County Historical Society, and was a board member of the Food Shelf. He lived in Moose Lake after retirement.
John was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Agnes Inez Cutler.
He is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Lisignoli of Cloquet, Sharon (Ken) Plante of Cloquet, and Karen Dixie (Harry) Dannen of Ogden, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE: will be held at a later date in Zion Lutheran Church in Cloquet at a later date. Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet. See the family online guest book at www.nelsonfuneralcare.net
