Grace D. Miller, 89, of Duluth, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth.

Grace D. Miller, 89, of Duluth, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth.

Grace Margaret Deck was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Duluth, Minn., the daughter of Frank and May Deck. She grew up in Duluth and graduated from Stanbrook Hall in 1941. After graduation, Grace started working for Northwestern Bell. She married Gordon Bruce Miller on May 24, 1947, in St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Duluth. They made their home in Rice Lake Township.

She enjoyed her time at the family cabin, which was built by Gordon on Lake McKeown. She loved to play card games such as cribbage, smear, and bridge. She was an active bowler for many years at Country Lanes.

Grace was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Woodland, a member of the Telephone Pioneers retirement group, and served many offices for AARP, including Assistant State Director, and was active in Volunteer Services for AARP.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Dorothy; and brothers, Bob, Rich, Joe, Jerome, and Donny.

Grace is survived by her children, Diane (Robert) Anderson of Mahtowa, and Jerome (Diana) Miller of Duluth; one brother, Thomas (Barbara) Deck of Lake Elmo; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John’s Catholic Church, 3 W. Chisholm Street, Duluth. Burial at Calvary Cemetery, Duluth. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, (218) 727-3555.
