Danny Lenarz, 64, of Duluth, formerly of St. Cloud passed away on Nov. 7, 2012 in Duluth.
Danny Lenarz, 64, of Duluth, formerly of St. Cloud passed away on Nov. 7, 2012 in Duluth.
He grew up in the Pantown area of St. Cloud and went to St. Peters School, South Junior High, Shattuck Military School and graduated from St. Cloud Tech in 1966. He was a decorated war veteran and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his efforts in Vietnam. He was retired from the Army in 1972 and did a lot of traveling before buying a home in Duluth. He had successful businesses in Duluth until 2009. He began to travel back to Vietnam in the winters and enjoyed the people of the China Beach area of Vietnam. He spent the summers with his friends on the North Shore.
He was an active member of the St. Cloud Smelters, a group of friends that enjoyed their smelting weekends for almost 50 years. He enjoyed golf, photography, travel and of course, partying with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Norbert and Dorthea Lenarz.
He is survived by brothers Nick, John, Mike, Pat; sister Mary; nieces Jenny, Emily, Katie and Molly.
He will be missed by those he touched with his life.
GATHERING OF FRIENDS: 3 p.m. Friday Nov. 16, at the Wapicada Golf Course in St. Cloud, and on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 2-5 p.m. at 1931 West 7th St. in Duluth.
