Daryl O. Carlson, 73, of Duluth, died at home on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012.

Daryl O. Carlson, 73, of Duluth, died at home on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012.

He was born to Jarl and Emma (Elkund) Carlson on Oct. 24, 1939 in Duluth.

Daryl earned his B.S. degree in History from UMD. Daryl retired as a light equipment operator for Duluth Public Works; however, his main passion was his pastoral work at Pine Hill Lutheran Church. He recently celebrated 47 years as a pastor.

He was a member of the Area Churches Together. Daryl loved traveling. He would often hit the road with his constant companion, one of his four dogs.

He traveled to all four corners of the United States, taking family members along for the ride. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, and reading.

Daryl is preceded in death by his parents.

Daryl is survived by his brother Jarl “Jerry” (Cathy) Carlson; nephew, Gary Carlson; niece, Laurie (Doron) Jensen; grand nephews, Christian and Grey Jensen; and grand nieces, Amanda Swanson and Emme Jensen. He is further survived by special first cousins, many other relatives, dear family of Pine Hill Lutheran Congregants, and his special friend Claudia.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 in Pine Hill Lutheran Church, 5702 Old Hwy 61. Visitation one hour prior to service in the church. Inurnment at Pine Hill Cemetery. Memorials appreciated to Pine Hill Lutheran Church or Animal Allies.
