Richard R. Allen, 64, of Duluth, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2012 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Richard R. Allen, 64, of Duluth, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2012 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center.
He was born in Highland Park, Mich. May 23, 1948 to Robert R. and Shirley P. (Hill) Allen.
He was a 1966 graduate of Virginia High School and an alumnus of the Delta Chi Fraternity. At one time Richard was a candidate for the Mayor of Virginia, Minn.
Richard was a long time member of the Nemadji Men’s Golf League and a member of the Operating Engineer’s Local 49. A professional photographer, he was the owner/operator of Picture Man, Inc.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, and his daughter Kristine Sobczyk.
He is survived by his wife Diane M. (Buck) Sobczyk of Duluth; his son Michael (Shelley) Sobczyk of Minneapolis; his twin grandchildren Nicholas and Emma Sobczyk; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
VISITATION: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, until the 11 a.m. funeral service in Dougherty Funeral Home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials directed to Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, P.O. Box 91840, Santa Barbara, CA 93190 would be appreciated. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E.
