Eric Jay Soderstrom, 34, of Duluth, went to be with his Lord after a brief illness Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012.

Eric was born April 6, 1978, in Duluth, to Clyde and Diane (Tryon) Soderstrom. Eric was a 1996 graduate of East High School and was working on his degree in computer sciences.

In 2000 Eric enlisted with the 148th Fighter Wing and achieved the level of Staff Sergeant. He served until 2007.

Eric loved snowboarding and golf. He played drums with the East High School Band and continued to play after, on his own.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edwin Soderstrom and Betres Soderstron-Bredow; maternal grandfather Charles Tryon; and an aunt, Lorri Shuey.

Eric is survived by his son, Luke; parents Clyde and Diane; maternal grandmother Elaine Tryon; brother Jeremie (Deana); sister Michelle (Nowell) Johnson; nieces Kayla, Brenna and Chloe; special friend Valerie Bryant; and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 1 until the 2 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, Nov. 7, in Lakeview Covenant Church, 1001 Jean Duluth Road.

Arrangements entrusted to Cremation Society of Minnesota, (218) 624-5200.

Dear Clyde and Diane, It has been years since we have been in contact, but I remember your love for your son. I can't imagine the pain you are suffering, I just wanted you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you.
