Marion (Caviness)Kilpela, 84 of McGregor formerly of Minneapolis died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at the Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin, Minn.
She was born Aug. 4, 1928 in Minneapolis the daughter of James and Margaret (Hilbert) Sugg.
She grew up and attended schools in Minneapolis graduating from Patrick Henry High School in 1946. She married David C. Caviness and they lived in North Minneapolis. David died in 1960. Marion married Donald Kilpela on March 8, 1961 in Minneapolis. They continued to live in Minneapolis until they retired to the McGregor area in 1988. They have lived here since.
She is survived by her husband Donald Kilpela of McGregor; sons Gary (Robin) Caviness of Ramsey, Minn., Robert (Sandy) Caviness of Coon Rapids, Minn., Donald Kilpela (Brigette) Minneapolis, Bruce Kilpela; daughter Margaret Caviness of Minneapolis; sister Delores Turner of Crystal, Minn.; grandchildren Josh, Sarah, Amy, Brandon, Brittany; great grandchildren Miles, Cordelia and Zion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband David Caviness; grother Donald Sugg and sister Lorraine Temte.
GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 in the McGregor Funeral Home, McGregor, Minn. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. or the Diabetes Assoc. www.srtfuneral.com.
