Robert J. Klang, 76, of Gilbert died Sunday, October 14, 2012 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth.

Robert J. Klang, 76, of Gilbert died Sunday, October 14, 2012 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth.

Robert was born May 6, 1936 in Duluth to Kenneth and Edith “Vickie” (Swanson) Klang. He attended Duluth East High School, and held a Geology degree from the University of MN-Duluth. He was married to Dolores J. Rian in 1964. Robert taught math in Silver Bay, worked as a field geologist, and retired from working as a Systems Analyst for LTV Steel (Cleveland Cliffs).

He is survived by a daughter, Kirsten (Van Fitch) Klang of Eveleth; a son, Eric Klang of Duluth; grandson, Dalton Fitch; sister, Mary (Wes) Milsten of Fridley, MN; brother, Jim (MaryEllen) Klang of Chicago, Il. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores and his parents.

Memorial services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2012 in Cron-Sheehy Funeral Home Chapel, Eveleth. Visitation begins at 11:30 a.m. Lunch follows at the Eveleth Elks Club. To leave a memorial message, go to: www.cron-sheehy.com.

To the Klang Family, Your father was one of my teachers in Silver Bay. He was one of the best educators not just a teacher. You learned in his class. He will be remembered for his leadership in the classroom. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family during your loss. Steve Elam Class of 1966
