ROSE VIRGINIA (FEDO) LIPINSKI

Rose Virginia (Fedo) Lipinski, 93, was released from her journey with Alzheimer’s on Oct. 10, 2012.

Rose Virginia (Fedo) Lipinski, 93, was released from her journey with Alzheimer’s on Oct. 10, 2012.

She was a lifelong resident of Duluth, born on Sept. 11, 1919, to Giovanni (John) and Vincenza (Pitto) Fedo.

She married Albert (Aube) Lipinski on Feb. 26, 1941. They were married for 62 years until Aube’s death in 2003.

Rose was a stay-at-home Mom until 1960 when her youngest child started school.

She worked at Glass Block for almost 20 years, most of the time in the Juniors Department, until she stopped working when Aube retired.

She was an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and participated in many church groups. She was also a member of the Italian American Club, and with her husband, the 125th Field Artillery where she enjoyed the fellowship of lifelong friends at their monthly luncheons at the Pickwick. After retirement, she volunteered at the Daisy Shop in the Benedictine Health Center. Her passions were her family, gardening, cooking and baking, reading “love stories”, knitting, ceramics and traveling. Rose was a very loving and compassionate woman who was always there to care for people in need. Her homemade chicken soup and freshly baked bread always seemed to be the ticket to recovery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aube; three brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her sister, Amelia Takala; brother, Joseph Fedo; brother-in-law, Rudy Lipinski; son, Scott (Barb); daughters, Pam (Chuck) Soderling and Celeste (Jon) Dallman; grandchildren, Sara Romagnoli, Kenzie (Ben) Morris, Peter Soderling, Luke (Amy) Soderling, Tom (Katie) Soderling, Michael Soderling, Molly (Matt) Dudley and Andy (Hansi) Dallman; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service Monday, Oct. 15 in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 2410 Morris Thomas Road, Duluth. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be sent to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Please leave a memory of Rose or words of support at www.bellbrothersfuneralhome.com

Our condolences to the Lipinski family. Al and Rose were good friends of my parents, Joe and Bev Ridinger. I will notify my mother in Phoenix, AZ about Rose's death. She will be sad to hear about it I am sure. The Ridinger family.
