MINNIE L. LINDGREN

Minnie L. Lindgren, 91 of Grand Rapids, Minn. and formerly of Deer River, Minn., passed peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at Grand Village Nursing Home in Grand Rapids.

Minnie L. Lindgren, 91 of Grand Rapids, Minn., and formerly of Deer River, Minn., passed peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at Grand Village Nursing Home in Grand Rapids.

She was born Minnie Lenore Kraskey in Cohasset, Minn., on June 14, 1921, and the youngest of eight children, her parents were Minnie and Joseph Kraskey.

She graduated from Deer River High School where she won many honors on the speech team and was a high school cheerleader. After graduation, she was married to Vernon Lindgren, and they had three children. After her husband was discharged from the United States Navy, they made their home in Deer River. Minnie’s young husband preceded her in death in 1951. She was then employed by the Deer River Co-op Creamery as receptionist/bookkeeper. In 1957, Minnie was hired as a receptionist at Blandin Paper Company in Grand Rapids. She retired from the accounting department at Blandin, where she worked for 30+ years until her retirement. Minnie’s greatest pleasure was spending time with her children, her grandchildren and her great grandson.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; eight siblings; son Terry; and grandson Shawn Nix.

Minnie is survived by two daughters Karon (William) Stejskal and Yvonne Nix both of Grand Rapids; three grandchildren Timothy Jerry of Denver, Colo., Tammy Jerry of Plymouth, Minn., Traci Richardson (Jerry Winterroth) of Elko, Minn.; one great grandson Ryan Richardson of Littleton, Colo.; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, in the Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids and will continue on Friday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service in the Grand Rapids Alliance Church. Rev. Randy Junker will officiate. Private family burial will be at Olivet Cemetery in Deer River, Minn.
