Elma Sofia Pommerville, 86, of Duluth, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 at Benedictine Health Center in Duluth, surrounded by her family.
Elma Sofia Pommerville, 86, of Duluth, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 at Benedictine Health Center in Duluth, surrounded by her family.
Elma was born Aug. 8, 1926 in Angora, Minn., to Anton and Aina (Riihimaki) Alto.
On May 4, 1946 she married Dale S. Pommerville, in Duluth.
Elma had resided for the past several years at St. Ann’s Residence in Duluth. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Elma was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Zenith Chapter O.E.S., and Daughters of the Nile (Lotus Temple).
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dale S. Pommerville; her parents; her granddaughter, Christine D. Pommervill;, her daughter-in-law, Mary C. Pommerville; her three sisters, Ellen, Lydia, and Helia, and her six brothers, Art, Uuno, George, Wayne, John, and Frank.
Among those who survive and gratefully shared her life are her son Gerald A. Pommerville of Duluth; daughter Jacalyn (Ronald) Willis of Esko, Minn.; four grandchildren, Renee (Aaron) Lange of Eden Prairie, Minn., Kelly (Kim) Willis of Duluth, Jason Willis of Brooklyn Center, Minn., and Andrea (Tory) Cawcutt of Cloquet, Minn.; five great grandchildren, Piper, Anika, and Deion Lange, Kaden Willis, Owen Cawcutt, and baby Cawcutt due in January; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her, especially the staff at Benedictine Health Center and St. Luke’s Hospice.
VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, in Bell Brothers Jarvi Dowd Funeral Home, 925 E. 4th Street. Service on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. in First Lutheran Church, 1100 E. Superior St. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
