EDWIN ENGIE

Edwin Engie, 88, formerly of Holyoke, Minn. passed away in Hartington, Neb., on Sept. 18, after a brief illness.

Edwin Engie, 88, formerly of Holyoke, Minn., passed away in Hartington, Neb., on Sept. 18, after a brief illness.

Ed grew up in North Dakota and was a graduate of Hanson Auto School. He and his wife Shirley (Simpson) Moved to Holyoke, Minn., in the 1960’s and started Birch Knoll Campground, which they ran until Shirley’s death in 1993.

Following Shirley’s death, Ed and his dog Rocky began the adventurous life of crisscrossing the country in his motor home. Summers were spent in Superior, Wis., but winter could find him anywhere from the flea markets in the southwest to treasure hunting in Oregon. It wasn’t until he met Marge Novak, that he finally had a reason to end his nomadic ways and settle in Hartington, Neb.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and beloved dog Rocky.

He is survived by Marge Novak, their dog Rocky II; his children, grandchildren, and the many friends and fellow travelers he met along the way.

MEMORIAL GATHERING: 1-3 p.m. Oct. 6, at the Silver Brook town hall in downtown Wrenshall, Minn.

Sorry to read about Ed's passing. I have great memories of Ed and some of the silly jokes he would tell. He always had one. Hello to Barb, Doug and Joyce. Sorry I can't make it to the memorial service for him. Wish I could see all of you. Take care, Love, Dede (Lindberg) Chart
