Bernice J. Bertrand, 86, of Carlton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012 at Inter-Faith Care Center.
Bernice J. Bertrand, 86, of Carlton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012 at Inter-Faith Care Center.
She was born April 1, 1926 in Sturgeon Lake, Minn., to Stanley and Martha (Martichusti) Stine.
She graduated Valedictorian from Carlton High School in 1944. Bernice was united in marriage to Donald Bertrand on Jan. 8, 1949 in Carlton, and was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Donald Bertrand; two brothers, Thomas and Frank Stine; and four sisters, Mary Zentkowski, Irene Lepak, Angeline Wavrin, and Dorothea Josslyn.
She is survived by six daughters, Sharon (Donald) Berthiaume, Suzanne (Richard) Erickson, Jayne (Keith) Hulten, Laura (David) Rosen all of Cloquet, Victoria (Robert) Jauernig of Garrison, N.Y., and Barbara (Steve) Bassa of Barnum; one son, James (Michelle) Bertrand of Richfield, Minn.; one brother, Leonard (Lena) Stine; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012 until the 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Catholic Church in Carlton. Interment service will be at Hillside Cemetery, followed with a luncheon in the church social hall. The family has selected Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet to assist them with arrangements.
