Winnifred "Winnie" Gurovitsch, 86, passed away on Sept. 6 in San Antonio, Texas.
Winnifred "Winnie" Gurovitsch, 86, passed away on Sept. 6 in San Antonio, Texas.
She was born Winnifred Goodman in Virginia, Minn., on Jan. 8, 1926.
Winnie married Art Gurovitsch on Feb. 4, 1951. Following her service in the U.S. Army as a nurse, Winnie moved to Duluth. She continued to be a loyal "Duluthian," despite moving first to Highland Beach, Fla., and then to San Antonio. During her 46 years in Duluth, Winnie was active in Temple Israel Sisterhood, an avid bridge player, a member of "Investormrs," and many other organizations. She was a true friend, the ultimate optimist, a social butterfly, and an adoring wife and mother.
Winnie is survived by her five children David Gurovitsch of Las Vegas, Nev., Robin Gurovitsch (Tim Daniels) of San Antonio, Texas, Cindy Singer (Blake) of Atlanta, Georgia, Marcy Gurovitsch of Madison, Wis., and Kerry Sonsino (Raphi) of San Antonio, Texas; and her 10 most precious gifts, her grandchildren Ryan and Brett Singer, Cassidy Daniels, Aidan Gurovitsch, Zachary Kreisler, Logan and AJ Kahl, and Moriah, Ariana, and Ilan Sonsino.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012 in the Tiffereth Israel Cemetery, on Howard Gnesen Road in Duluth.
