Armen C. Francisco, 92, formerly of Duluth Heights, went home to his heavenly Father, surrounded by his family, Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012 in St. Luke's.
Armen was born Nov. 27, 1919 in Duluth to John and Carmina (Romano) Francisco.
He married Cecelia Piano on Sept. 27, 1941. Armen was a veteran of WW 11, serving in the army in Burma and India. He retired from Universal Atlas Cement Company's lab after many years of service. Armen was very active in St. Joseph's Church in Duluth Heights. He was head usher at weekend masses and served many funerals. He was a member of the Italian American Club, where he also sang in its choir. He was also a member of the St. Joseph's Plus 55 Club. He was the #1 fan of the University of Notre Dame football team and was an avid Twin's fan. Once Armen met you, you were his friend forever. Armen loved his family and friends and he will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Carmina; the love of his life, Cecelia in 2001; brothers, Mike, Joe, Bennie, Tony and Sam and his sister, Angie.
Armen is survived by his son, Jeff (Royann) Francisco; grandchildren, Justin (Rachelle) Francisco and Megan (Matt) Hanson; great grandchildren, Olivia and Bryce Francisco and Maybree Hanson; sister, Dolly Savage and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank the members of the "Lodge" and his home care nurse and friend Kathy for their loving care of Armen.
VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Friday with Wake prayers at 6:30 p.m. in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be 11am Saturday at St. Joseph's Church, 151 W Linden St. Duluth Heights. Burial with military honors accorded by the Duluth combined Honor guard at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2nd St. (218) 727-3555.
