GERALD "JERRY" A. HANSON
Gerald "Jerry" A. Hanson, 86, Poplar, Wis. passed away peacefully on Aug. 26, 2012 at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center, Hospice unit, having suffered a severe stroke on Aug. 17, 2012.
Gerald "Jerry" A. Hanson, 86, Poplar, Wis., passed away peacefully on Aug. 26, 2012 at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center, Hospice unit, having suffered a severe stroke on Aug. 17, 2012.
Jerry retired from the Minnesota Power and Light Company after 37 years of service.
While employed, he was a member of the Minnesota Power Employees Credit Union, serving on their board of directors for several years.
He was also a master gardener and a member of the Duluth horticulture club, the Poplar Lions Club and the "AMPS" retirees of Minnesota Power.
Jerry was a lifelong member of the Duluth Hillside Methodist Church before joining Peace Lutheran Church in Poplar in 1993.
As a master gardener, he was a member of the Duluth Flower City of the North judging committee, judging gardens in the area. The Kitchi Gammi Club enjoyed Jerry's flower landscapes, annually, for many years.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Bette) Lindgren Hanson; his step-children, Lee (Nancy) Lindgren, Yvonne (John) Fuller, Jack (Toni) Lindgren, Darin (Carol) Lindgren, Sheila Lindgren; his step-grandchildren, Noah Michael, Jonah Michael, Sarah Fuller, Heide Lindgren, Aaron Lindgren, Alyssa Lindgren, Hannah Lindgren and Luke Lindgren; a step-great-granddaughter, Amelia Michael and two nephews, John Ulven and Don (Jan) Carlson.
VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012 in Peace Lutheran Church in Poplar, Wis.
