Suzanne Nancy Anderson, 73, of Duluth, died peacefully with her family by her side Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012 in Essentia Health Center St. Mary's.

Suzanne Nancy Anderson, 73, of Duluth, died peacefully with her family by her side Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012 in Essentia Health Center St. Mary’s. She was born on May 7, 1939 to Lyle and Vivian (Thompson) Brown in Duluth.

Suzanne was a 1957 graduate of Duluth Cathedral High School and was employed at Northern City National Bank and Walmart for many years. She married Tom Anderson on Sept. 12, 1964, moved to Minneapolis, and became proud parents of their son Gerry in 1968. The family moved back to Duluth in 1974. Sue was a homemaker and stay home Mom; she was very active as a hockey Mom over the years. “Big Sue,” as she was affectionately known by all her nieces and nephews, was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She was an unselfish individual who always cared for others. She enjoyed crafting, spending time at her family’s Lake Nichols cabin, and fishing with her family and friends. She loved to play bingo when she had the chance. She was known as the candy lady to many young children because she always had a treat for the children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tom, and her sister, Carole Galarneau. Survivors include her son, Gerry (Dana); her grandchildren, Sami, Joey and Mikey all of Roseville, MN; her sister, Pat (Ken) Olson of Duluth; her nieces, Teri (Joel) Stutsman; Kris (Mike) Peterson; Sue (Mark) Christensen; nephews, Steve Galarneau; Greg (Lin) Galarneau; Jeff (Lynn) Galarneau. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, Aug. 20, 2012 in St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
