DIANE ROSE BRULEY
Diane Rose Bruley passed away Aug. 9, 2012, in Essentia Hospice with her family by her side.
Diane was born in Duluth Aug. 14, 1941, to Robert and Agnes Bartig (Anderson). She lived most of her life in Duluth graduating from Denfeld High School, class of ‘59. She immediately married her high school sweetheart, Melvin “Skeeter” Davis, and bore three children, David, Lori and Michael.
She worked at St. Luke’s hospital as a physical therapy aide for over 20 years. In 1979 she married the love of her life, Walter J. Bruley, and celebrated 33 years of marriage on June 22. Diane was often noted for having youthful looks and a wonderful smile. She had plenty of energy and loved to go for long walks with her mother and sister. She was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, none of which dampened her spirit. She often pushed herself to the limit to enjoy her walks, having to finally give those up the past few years.
Diane loved to read and watch detective shows on television. She most enjoyed time with her grandchildren, their constant activity was the challenge she needed to stay active herself. She took great pride in seeing her children grow into wonderful adults as parents and auntie. Diane’s relationship with her children was a wonderful thing to see.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Agnes Bartig (Anderson).
Diane is survived by her husband of 33 years, Walter J. Bruley; children David (Tracie) Davis of Wichita, Kan., Lori (Merlyn) Francis of Duluth and Michael (Cindy) Davis of Duluth; stepdaughter Jennifer (Ryan) Brasswell of Marlborough, Mass.; grandchildren Zach (Rachel) Hanson of Cloquet, Jeremy (Jakki) Lemasters of Savannah, Ga., Jamie Davis of Wichita, Jessica and Jack Davis of Duluth and Faith Braswell of Marlborough; great-grandson Jeremiah (and it is a comforting thought that Diane’s spirit has now held the unborn great-grandchild coming); her sister, Carol Ciurleo, of Duluth; brother David (Mimi) Bartig of Duluth; and Diane has and has had many wonderful aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins in her life.
GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: Aug. 14, 1 p.m. with a 2 p.m. memorial program for a celebration of Diane’s life and her sister Carol’s birthday in the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth.
She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.
