Robert Frank "Bob" Teasck, 87, died Sunday, July 29, 2012 in St. Raphael's Rehabilitation Center in Eveleth.
Robert Frank "Bob" Teasck, 87, died Sunday, July 29, 2012 in St. Raphael's Rehabilitation Center in Eveleth.
He was born March 12, 1925 in Virginia, the son of Frank and Anna (Dahl) Teasck and a graduate of Virginia High School.
Bob served seven years of active duty in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre with Company G 414th Infantry 104th Division "Timberwolves" Night Fighters. He stayed active with the G-company Timberwolves through many reunions and became the editor of their newsletter in 1990. He continued his service to his country, by serving with the Minnesota National Guard for 25 years; retiring as a Command Sergeant Major. Bob married Iris Whitmarsh on April 18, 1947 in Torrington, Wyoming and lived in Virginia until moving to Sand Lake in Britt in 1976. He was employed by the Untied States Postal Service as a mail carrier.
Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church in Virginia, the Virginia Masonic Lodge No. 264 AF & AM, the Crellin-Tini VFW Post No. 1113 of Virginia, the Pratt-Volden- Mickelson-Anderson American Legion Post No. 239 of Virginia and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Kolstad Chapter No. 23. He served many terms on the Virginia Public School Board, the Virginia City Council, was a 55 Alive Instructor, and was not afraid to share his opinions in the local editorial pages. Bob was a loving, caring, giving, proud, patriotic, hardworking civic-minded, family man; a husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend. He will be sadly missed.
Robert is survived by his wife Iris "Ike"; children Tom (Ginger) Teasck of Virginia, Terri (Carter) Hilar-Hagen of Biwabik, Jeff (Jennifer) Teasck of Virginia, Emily Bennett of Tucson, Ariz., Steve (Jane) Teasck of Cloquet, and Amy (Eric) George of Virginia; grandchildren Tom (Jessica) Teasck, Tony (Jane) Teasck, Jennifer (Jaime) Moreland, Pat Hilar, Jessica (Les) Sump, Mark (Martina) Hilar, Sherri (Markus) Hoche, Jeff (Sarah) Teasck, Craig Bennett, Leigh Bennett, Andrea (Ben) Cortland, Brent (Elissa) Teasck, Alisha (Chris) Teasck, Holly (Jon) Josephson, and Casey George; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brothers-in-law Charlie (Charlotte) Whitmarsh and Frank Love; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Erik Ahlgren and Herbert Ahlgren; sister-in-law Joanna Love and son-in-law John Hilar.
GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012 in the United Methodist Church in Virginia. The Gathering Time for Family and Friends will continue Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Celebration of Life service in the United Methodist Church. Pastor Mickey Olson will officiate. Inurnment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Virginia Servicemen's Honor Guard.
Memorials are preferred and may be directed to the United Methodist Church in Virginia or the donor's choice.
The family wishes to thank the St. Raphael's nurses, aides, and staff for their excellent care and compassion.
