Shirley C. Jamar, was born in Duluth on March 22, 1924 to Clare S. and Walker Jamar, Sr.

Shirley was a graduate of Duluth Central High School, attended Connecticut College and Graduated from the University of Michigan in 1945. She was employed for a number of years by the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan and New York City.

Shirley was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and served on several church committees, including as directress of the Alter Guild. She was a former member of the Board of Northwood Children's Services and of St. Lukes Hospital Service Guild. She was a member of Duluth Woman's Club, Daughter of Liberty Chapter of D.A.R., Chapter BR of P.E.O. Sisterhood and Friday Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clare S. and Walker Jamar, Sr., and her brothers, Walker Jamar, Jr., and Norton Jamar.

Shirley is survived by her sisters-in-law Joan H. Jamar and Sylvia B. Jamar and 10 nieces and nephews to whom she was devoted: Cathryn (Jon) Friedberg, Middleton, Wis., David (Patti) Jamar, Sebastian, Fla., Sally (Larry) Carlson, Glenview, Ill., Robin (John) Manning, Billings, Mont., Peter Jamar, Telluride, Colo., Jade Shovein, Roseville, Minn., Tom Jamar, Duluth; Tracy Elizabeth (Monty Silver) Jamar, New York, N.Y., Walker Jeffery (Karla Drover) Jamar, Louisville, KY, Allison (John Doty) Jamar, Minneapolis; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: will be held at an upcoming date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Northwood Children's Services or a charity of donor's choice.
