DENNIS BERTILSON

Dennis Fred Bertilson, 65, passed away Dec. 2, 2011, in McAllen, Texas.

He was born Jan 1, 1946, in Mt. Lake, Minn., and grew up in Odin, Minn. He graduated from Butterfield High School in 1964 and joined the Air Force in 1965. He served one tour of duty during the Vietnam War.

Upon his honorable discharge, he attended and graduated from Mankato State University with a bachelor's in criminology. He served as a probation officer for the state of Minnesota until 1972. He then served as a probation officer for Arrowhead Regional Corrections from March 1972 to September 2004.

Dennis was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. and the Minnesota Elks Lodge Post 133 of Duluth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Edna Bertilson; and one brother, Dennis Keith.

Dennis is survived by his life partner, Alice Carroll; son Cris Bertilson of Mankato; siblings Duane (Barbara) Bertilson of Monticello, Minn., Diana B. (Rodney) Tchida of Rockport, Texas, Douglas (Brenda) Bertilson of International Falls, and Jim (Jean) Sloggy of Willow River.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28 at Duluth Elks Lodge 133, 4250 Haines Rd., 218-727-0111
