Lial D. Pederson, 82, Lawrence Township, died on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in his home under the loving care of Itasca Hospice.
Born May 27, 1930 in Duluth, he was the son of Theodore O. and Faye E. (Duncan) Pederson.
Lial was a 1948 graduate of Bigfork High School. He and Bonnie Schromen were married on Nov. 20, 1965 in Bigfork. A construction mason by trade, he had lived in Antioch, Ill., Amery, Wis., Phoenix, Ariz., and since 1992 had been a resident of Lawrence Township where attended the Balsam Bible Chapel. Lial was an avid bicyclist who rode many years for the M.S. TRAM.
Lial was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the 32nd Reg. 1st Bat. 7th Inf. Combat Div. Co. "B" and a member of the Chosin Few.
His parents, Theodore and Faye Pederson preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; two children, Jeff (Beth) Pederson and Julie (Chip) Worcester, both of Balsam; six grandchildren, Lyle, Jason, and J. D. Peterson, Anne and Tara Worcester, and Londa Storlie; and 10 great grandchildren.
VISITATION: 4-6 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2012 in the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2012 in the Balsam Bible Chapel.
