Arnold Edward Dyrdahl, 96, of Grand Rapids, Minn., died June 29, 2012 at Grand Village Nursing Home Grand Rapid, Minn., where he spent the last year.
He was born March 19, 1916 in Eden Township near Gully, Minn., to Anton and Olive (Kjos) Dyrdahl.
Arnold was a Staff S/Sgt in the Army serving from 1942 to 1945, he fought in campaigns of Normandy, N. France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He received a Purple Heart in 1944, also a Good Conduct Medal and a Bronze Service Arrowhead. Arnold was a squad leader. He married Sylvia Wegge on June 11, 1955 in Holt, Minn., they lived their married life in Cohasset, Minn. Arnold was a retired electrician Local 294.
He is preceded by wife Sylvia in 1991; parents; one sister Mabel; three brothers Lester, Russell and Eugene.
He is survived by one stepson Jim (Donna) Liston; three sisters Margaret, Verna, and Gertrude; two sisters-in-law Wanda and Delores; two step grandsons, Charles and Scott, and many nieces and mephews
VISITATION: 10 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 until the 11 a.m. service in Redeemer Lutheran Church Deer River, Minn. Burial at Wildwood Cemetery Cohasset, Minn. Arrangements by Carroll Funeral Home, Deer River, Minn.
