Sandra Jane (Malila) Koski, 71, of Hibbing, formerly of Grand Rapids, Minn., died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at University Medical Center - Mesabi in Hibbing, Minn.
Sandra was born April 20, 1941, 1922 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth and was raised in Wawina, Minn.
She attended grades 1-8 in Warba, Minn., and 9-12 in Grand Rapids, graduating in 1959. Sandra worked in Minneapolis at the Burlington Coat Factory and came back home and married Walter Koski from Jacobson, Minn., in 1961. They lived on the farm for many years. After Walter and Sandra were married for 41 years, they sold the farm at an auction and moved to Grand Rapids, Minn., where they lived for a number of years. After Walter passed away in 2002, Sandra worked at the Manor House in Grand Rapids for five years. Sandra was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in August, 2009 and went to live with her sister, Mary Ann in Nashwauk. Sandra was admitted to the Hillcrest Parkside Unit in Hibbing, Minn., on May 23, 2012 where she stayed until her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Lillian Malila and her brother, Theodore, Jr. on Nov. 13, 2010.
Sandra is survived by her siblings, Mary Ann Panyon of Nashwauk and Peter Malila of Washburn, Wis.; niece, Terri Garman and her children Eric and Shaina; Michelle and kids and good friend, Jerry Nasland of Deer River.
VISITATION: 12 Noon Saturday, June 30 until the 1 p.m. Memorial Service in Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids. Rev. Wayne Quam will officiate. Inurnment will be at Ball Bluff Cemetery in Jacobson, Minn.
Arrangements are by Rowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
