Timothy James Onraet, 45, of Deer River, passed away after a courageous battle with renal cancer, Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center, in Duluth, surrounded by family.
Tim was born in Duluth and graduated from Hermantown High School in 1985. He attended Itasca Community College and worked in the Twin Cities area until 1998, at which time he and his wife, Rita, purchased Jessie View Resort on Big Jessie Lake, north of Deer River.
Tim was a fun-loving, competitive guy that enjoyed all sports, especially softball, baseball, football, golf and a variety of music. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved talking about fishing, sports, current events or whatever was of interest that day, with resort guests. He was quick to learn any task and took great pride in figuring out the best way to do things. He will be greatly missed and all that knew him will remember his quirky humor and "sports announcer" memory.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elaine Onraet, Hermantown; and three brothers, Harlan, Charlie and Maurice.
Tim is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Rita (Paatela) Onraet; daughter and apple of his eye, Carly Jo Onraet; brother, John (Raelyn) Onraet; and sisters, Lynn (Sherman) Turcotte, Rachel (Jeff Glade) Onraet, Elizabeth Standley, Jackie (Edward) Brown and Amy (Dean Robertson) Onraet; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephew.
VISITATION: 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. Memorial Service Saturday, June 23rd at Cremation Service of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Avenue.
Tim's greatest passion in life was youth sports, especially softball. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your local youth sports program, in Tim's name, would be a great honor to him. Arrangements entrusted to Cremation Society of Minnesota.

PATTI R.
Lynn and family, It is so hard for me to grasp the fact that Tim is gone! I hope that you can all share in Lynn's faith that he is now in a better place, with God. I wish that I could be there with you all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and special prayers for Carly as she has lost the father that loved her so much. Much love and hugs to you all, Patti Rohweder BurchMilwaukee, WI 06/22/2012 11:02 AM
