Thorwald "Tory" Sigmund Esbensen died June 4, 2012.
He was born on Sept. 15, 1923 and grew up in Eagle River, Wis.
Preceded in death by his parents, George Skancke Esbensen and Edith Evelyn (Church) Esbensen; brothers Duane and Victor Esbensen; nephew, Jordan Kaplan; niece, Laura Johnson; son, Peter Neil Esbensen; and by his beloved wife, Barbara Juster Esbensen.
Survived and missed by children Julie Esbensen Sedore (Colorado), Daniel Mark Esbensen (Nevada), Jane Esbensen Karlsson/Mats (Sweden), George Franklin Esbensen/Jean (Minnesota) and Kai Eugene Esbensen (Minnesota); grandchildren Erin, Peter, TJ, Benjamin, Katie, Lincoln, Isabel and Alexandra; great-grandchildren, Calvin, Elliot, Sasha and Liam; sisters/brother-in-law, Phyllis Kaplan, Nancy and Craig Johnson; nieces and nephews, Edith Ann, Kristen, Kari Anna, Leif, Cynthia, Josh, Deborah and Glen - and his daily correspondent, Jennifer Jerome.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012 at The College of St Scholastica in the Somers Lounge, 1200 Kenwood Avenue, Duluth, MN 55811. Tory's ashes will be spread at a later date. If you wish to leave a memorial it is the family's wish that you give to the American Cancer Society.
