Dorleen Ruth VanDorn, 83, of Proctor, died peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, surrounded by her family.
Dorleen grew up, attended school, and married in Staples, Minn. In 1951 the family moved to Proctor where she lived for the remainder of her life. Dorleen was a member of Cloquet Gospel Tabernacle and she devoted many years to teaching Sunday School and volunteering for women's ministries there. She was also involved with the local 4-H clubs. Dorleen always put God at the center of her life, had a passionate dedication to her family, and loved to care for others. She will be sadly missed.
Dorleen was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; daughter Loreen Fish; parents, Ruth and Bertie Parrott, sister, Dorothy Noyes; and brothers, William, Donald, Melvin, and Ervin Parrott.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (Royall) Sams of Broken Arrow, Okla., Elaine (Randy) Thudin of Esko; Steve (Deborah) VanDorn of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Leiah (Scott) Schroeder of Portage, Wis.; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and her son-in-law, Pete Fish of Mont.
