Ellen K. Parks, 91, of Cloquet, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 at Inter-Faith Care in Carlton.

Ellen K. Parks, 91, of Cloquet, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 at Inter-Faith Care in Carlton.

She was born April 10, 1921 in Oulu, Finland to Eino and Selma (Koistenen) Korkala and was a Cloquet resident since 1939.

Ellen was a longtime member of the Cloquet Presbyterian Church, and also the Hebert-Kennedy VFW Post 3979 Auxiliary. She loved gardening, snowmobiling, going to the cabin at Lake Saganaga "Big Sag" and teaching ceramics in her home.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; one son, David; and one sister, Emma.

She is survived by one son, Ronald (Connie) Parks of Carlton; two daughters, Mary Ellen (Jerry) Hammarlund of Oxford, Mich., and Barbara (Gary) Hokanson of Hermantown; daughter-in-law Christine Parks of Cloquet; one brother, Andrew Korkala of Cloquet; three sisters, Ann King of Cloquet, Kathy (Larry) Lindquist of Floodwood, and Barbara (Donald) Rowe of Esko; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012 until the 11 a.m. memorial service in the Cloquet Presbyterian Church. Inurnment service will be at Maple Grove Cemetery followed with a luncheon in the church social hall. The family has selected Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet to assist them with arrangements.
