Charaleta Jo Arn, 71, of Britt, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, May 20, 2012 surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Char was the first born to Philip (Pete) and Aleta Bernice (Barnes) Call on Dec. 27, 1940 in their home in Randolph County Missouri.
She attended Aurora, Gilbert and Eveleth schools and was united in marriage on June 7, 1958 with Cameron A. Arn at the Zion Lutheran Church in Virginia.
Char and her husband Camy owned and operated the Wolf Cleaners in Virginia for many years before his death. She also worked at Ben Franklin and Terry's Treasurer's before becoming ill in 2009.
She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and talking about them brought a twinkle to her eye and a smile on her face. Family time to Char was very important. She loved being with her brothers and sister; helping people; teaching quilting and crafts; traveling; Florida, especially the beach. She loved entertaining and having friends over. Cooking and baking were all fun for her.
Char was a member of the Sand Lake Chapel in Britt, Paul Harris Fellowship, Soroptimist, VRMC quilting group, Moose Club, Gideon's, Via de Cristo and was one of the founding members of the Sand Lake Shuffle.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cameron; father Pete Call; infant son and a granddaughter, Julie Arn.
Char is survived by sons Scott (Missy) Arn of Hoyt Lakes and Corey (Ginger) Arn of Embarrass; granddaughters Jolene Arn of Lawrenceville, Ga., Jennifer (Casey) Sunsdahl of Tower, Nikki and Krissy Arn of Hoyt Lakes; great-grandsons Ian and Luca Sunsdahl of Tower, mother Aleta Bernice Call of Clifton Hill, Mo.; sister Raylene (Larry) Matheny of Hayward, Wis.; brothers Philip (Kathy) Call of Sauk Rapids, Minn., Gerry Call of Salisbury, Mo., Randy (Regena) Call of Clifton Hill, Mo.; several nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews; and cousins. She also leaves behind many, many great friends.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 in the Sand Lake Chapel in Britt with Pastor Richard Lohry officiating. Burial will be at the Sand Lake Chapel Cemetery in Britt. Arrangements are with the Landmark Funeral Home of Virginia.
