CLARA ELIZABETH BOGDA

Clara E. Bogda died April 24, 2012 at the Citadel Care Center in Mesa, Ariz.

Clara was born Oct. 15, 1920 to Magnus and Maybelle Herseth of Ely and Kabetogama.

Clara attended St Olaf College where she met and married Theodore (Ted) Bogda. They raised a family in Spring Grove, Ellsworth and Chisholm. Clara earned her BA from St Olaf and master's degree from Bemidji State. She taught mathematics in Hibbing. Upon retirement, she and Ted spent summers at their cabin on Lake Kabetogama and winters at Sun Life Resort in Mesa.

When younger, Clara enjoyed volleyball, bowling, bocce ball, fishing and berry picking. At Sun Life she led water aerobics, played card bingo, instructed crafts and enjoyed walking.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents and husband; sisters Pearl Davis, Katherine Narbo; brother Thor Herseth; grandson Ted Bogda.

Clara is survived by sons Ted (Esther), Gerald (Vicki), Richard (Ann), Bruce (Naomi); daughter Sheryl (Daniel) Vertina; grandchildren Heidi (Jason) Bilyeu, Hildi, Hedi, Derek (Tracy), Drew, Michael; step-grandchildren Wesley, Daniel and Andrew Wright; great-grandchildren Tyler, Serena, Dylan, Haley, Kylie.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. on June 8, in the Lake Kabetogama United Methodist Church. Interment at Fort Snelling Cemetery.
