Margaret S. James, 83, of Duluth, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012 at St. Eligius Health Center.

Margaret S. James, 83, of Duluth, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012 at St. Eligius Health Center.

Margaret Sweeney was born April 25, 1928 in Duluth the daughter of John and Helen (Hartley) Sweeney.

She graduated from Duluth Cathedral High School in 1946 and went to work for Northwestern Bell for a short time. Margaret became a nurse's aide for St. Luke's Hospital and worked in the nursery. On Nov. 29, 1947 Margaret was joined in marriage to Donald James. Margaret became a homemaker raising her four children. After the passing of her husband, Donald, Margaret later married Kenneth Davidson. She enjoyed camping, bowling, craft work, crossword puzzles, and playing cribbage. She loved a good joke and was an avid Twins and Vikings fan.

Margaret is survived by her son, Michael James of Duluth; three daughters, Mary (Michael) Johnson, Barbara (Donald) Olson, Maureen (Gary) DeRosier all of Duluth; seven grandchildren, Heather Anderson, Ryan Johnson, Jake Theivagt, Clay (Theresa) Theivagt, Alexandra Olson, Whitney Olson, John (Rebecca) DeRosier; four great grandchildren, Gracie Anderson, Gabby Anderson Nolan Theivagt and Max DeRosier; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Donald F. James, Kenneth Davidson; brothers, Morgan Sweeney, Thomas Sweeney and John B. Sweeney.

Casket bearers will be Margaret's seven grandchildren.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, in St. James Catholic Church in Duluth. Father Seamus Walsh will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the Bell Brothers Funeral Home in West Duluth and one hour prior to the service in the church on Thursday. Interment will be at the Oneota Cemetery. The family would like to thank the wonderful, loving and professional staff at St. Eligius Health Care Center who provided outstanding care for many years.
