John Joseph Muller, M.D., 91, of Hibbing, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, in Guardian Angels in Hibbing.
He was born in Rudyard, Mont., to Alphonse and Hilda Muller Nov. 7, 1920. He graduated from Hingham High School in 1938 and from Montana State University in Bozeman in 1942. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1945 and did his medical internship in Portland, Ore.
Dr. Muller spent two years in the Army service at the VA Hospital in Hot Springs, S.D. He then received his master’s degree in medicine from the University of Minnesota. After a six month service at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul, where he met Jo Ann, he spent five years at Roswell Park Cancer Research Center in Buffalo N.Y. They married in June of 1953.
John and Jo Ann made their home in Hibbing in September of 1956 after John was hired by the Adams Clinic as one of their surgeons. Dr. Muller retired from the clinic in 1988. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Clara Lipp.
John will be missed by his wife, Jo Ann; children Timothy (Christine) Muller of Hibbing, Terrance (Ellen) Muller of Minneapolis, Theodore Muller of Ruxburg, Idaho, and Madeline (James) Kochevar of Marquette, Mich.; his siblings, Viola Rambo of Libby, Mont., Eileen Buchholtz of Beach, N.D., and James (Shirley) Muller of Rudyard, Mont.; and grandchildren Carissa and John Muller, Elizabeth and Claire Muller, and McCall and Jack Kochevar.
VISITATION: 12 noon until the 1 p.m. funeral Mass Monday, April 16, in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the V.F.W. Post 8510 Honor Guard.
Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Hibbing Food Shelf, 1910 First Ave., Hibbing, MN 55746.
