He attended St. Michael's School in Duluth, then St. John's Preparatory High School in Collegeville, Minn. He graduated from Harvard University and then earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Wisconsin.
Joe was a Senior Partner with the law firm of Stafford Rosenbaum LLP in Madison. He was a talented lawyer and trusted advisor to his clients and was well-respected in the legal community. He was selected by his peers annually as a Wisconsin Super Lawyer in business litigation since 2005. Joe had a commanding presence in the courtroom, a sharp legal mind and a quick wit. Joe started his career at Stafford as a law clerk in 1986. From 1988 to 1993, he worked as an associate at Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt in Portland, Ore. He returned to Stafford in 1993 and became a partner in 1996. Joe was a leader and mentor at the Stafford firm. He also served his profession as a member of the Board of Governors for the Western District of Wisconsin Bar Association and as a member of the Wisconsin Lawyers' Fund for Client Protection Committee of the State Bar of Wisconsin, serving as the vice-chair for the past year.
With all his heart he loved his wife of 25 years, Robin and his daughters, Megan, 17, Andrea, 14 and Bridget, 12. Joe's passion in life was his family, and his girls were his pride and joy. He left his family with many wonderful memories of hunting, spending time at the cabin, and many many hours at sporting events and Feiseanna.
