Donald M. Lipinski, 82, of Superior, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012.

Donald was born in Cold Spring, Minn., on Nov. 8, 1929 to Paul and Emma (Schug) Lipinski.

He attended and graduated from St. Boniface High School in 1947 and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Army. After serving his country, Don moved to San Francisco where he worked in the mailroom of Retail Credit Company which is now known as Equifax. Through his tenacity he rose through the ranks of the company where he eventually headed up a large regional division. In 1952 he was united in marriage to Margaret Pearl Patrick. The family relocated to Duluth in 1969 where Donald continued working for the company. During this period he bought the Lake Nebagamon Dairy Queen. In 1972 he purchased Bridgeman's in Pike Lake. Throughout the years this location served as many businesses including a restaurant and bar. In 1977 Don built the Superior, Wis., Dairy Queen and soon after purchased the Dairy Queen in Pike Lake. In 1985 he retired from Equifax to focus more on his thriving businesses.

Don relished life and his interests and passions were countless. He was the epitome of the self made man. His generosity, kindness, love for family and friends, honesty and leadership will be forever remembered and cherished. From his children: "Dad we worship the ground you walk on. We love you."

He is preceded in death by his parents; son Michael Young and his two brothers Loren and Paul Jr.

Donald is survived by his wife Margaret; children, Christopher (Yoko) Young of Anchorage, Alaska, Tom (Peggy) Lipinski of Hermantown, Joseph (Sharon) Lipinski of Stillwater, Minn., Mary (Dr. James III) Deegan of Superior, Wis.; grandchildren, Michael, Kevin, David, Chris Jr. Janie, Neica, Daniel, Joshua, Lindsay, Elizabeth, Steven, Meghan, Ine, Sean, Matthew, Caitlin, Bridget and Michael; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Charlotte and Django; brothers, Dale and William; sister Sheila (Chuck) Lord as well as many other family members and friends.

VISITATION: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Memorial Mass on Thursday, April 5, 2012 in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church 2316 E. 4th St. Superior with Fr. James Tobolski presiding. Inurnment will be at Sunrise Cemetery in Hermantown.

Don gave me my first job out of the military at Retail Credit in the early 70's. Thanks Don, sorry we were never able to cross paths again after I left. Jerry Bjick
