Virginia Elizabeth Jarvi, 85, of Floodwood passed away at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth on March 31, 2012 after suffering a massive stroke.
Virginia Elizabeth Jarvi, 85, of Floodwood passed away at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth on March 31, 2012 after suffering a massive stroke.
Virginia was born on Jan. 30, 1927 in Floodwood to Fay and Mamie Crist. She married Ralph A. Jarvi on Oct. 30, 1946 in Duluth and they remained life-long residents of Floodwood.
She worked for Riley's Hardware Store in Floodwood for seven years in the 1970's.
Virginia was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and was an active participant with HLCW for many years. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and was active with The Cancer Foundation for a long period of time.
She enjoyed working puzzles, reading, gardening, and was a talented artist and seamstress. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her large family.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; sons, Vaughn and Craig; step-daughter, Joannie Moe; and brothers, Wilbur and James Crist.
She is survived by her children, Jean Melloch, Candace (Paul Dennis) MacRostie, Kim (Edward) Mrosla, Guy, Brian (RaeLene), Bruce and Richard (Shawn); sister, Evelyn (Robert) Wester; daughter-in-law, Cherie Jarvi; son-in-law, Roger Moe; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff on the Neuro Science floor of Essentia Health for the wonderful care and to the staff at Solvay Hospice House for the professional care and dignity shown to our mother during her transition. Your kindness and compassion will always remain a great comfort to our family.
VISITATION: 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, April 9, 2012 in Hope Lutheran Church in Floodwood. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Van Buren Township.
